A full day to discover some little known facts and stories of this part of Hampshire. We will drive you through a battlefield of the English Civil War, where Cromwell defeated the massed forces of the Royalists army at Cheriton just outside Winchester. Lunch will be taken in one of the many garden centres in this area before heading off to Alresford for your afternoon steam train trip to Alton on the Watercress Line.
Let the train take the strain as you sit back, relax and watch mile after mile of the beautiful Hampshire countryside pass you by. The soothing sounds of the steam engine and the beat of the exhaust can be heard over the clackety clack of the train passing over rails, there really is nothing quite like the sight, sound and smell of a steam train.
